This is another review by my wife, Patrice, who has a thing for the more girly, pretty coloured stationery. To be honest, I am glad she is doing it because I probably wouldn’t have!

For a little more information about Patrice and Myself, head to the “About” page of the site, which I have recently updated.

A Kilometrico pen is my companion to pretty much any lecture or tute that I go to. They write pretty damn reliably, they have a good size point, a nice colour and they have a thin barrel so you can fit loads of them in a pencil case to supply stationery deficient friends.

Naturally, when I saw that Woolies was having a ‘back to school’ (ha ha suckers) sale where the new colours were half price at about $2 a ten pack, they made a happy addition to my shopping trolley. The colours are quite nice with orange (which isn’t really that easy to see), purple, blue, aqua and pink. There’s also a range of fluro colours, but I’m not really a fluro kinda girl.

They’re pretty much identical to the traditional Kilometricos and as such are just as reliable and easy to write with, but there would be a few things that I would change if I could. Firstly I would make the pen a clicky pen. Clicky pens are great and when I am working at the hospital I always lose my kilometrico lids between patients therefore ensuring I have a thorough amount of ink on myself and my uniform. Well annoying.  And secondly, it’d be nice to know the ink level without having to pull the middle out, but it’s no biggie.

These pens, as well as the Papermate Inkjoys are pretty much my favourite at the moment for drawing in lectures and tutes while I should really be listening. When you can create pretty pictures who really cares about the horrendously boring lecturer in front of the hall?

Nice review, and I must say, it’s always a weirdly fascinating and pleasurable experience to encounter another “Patrice!”

I love those pens, but cannot find them in Hong Kong. Any idea how I can get them? Many thanks.

    Hey
While I was in Australia I bought myself a huge supply of those pens, but now I am back in Germany for about two years already and I cannot find them anywhere. Does anyone know how to get them/order them?
    Thanks x

I have had a bad experience with the pens! my children love them but we had an ink imposition onto clothing of not only my done but children around him.

I purchased two bulk packs of the Paper Mate Kilometrico Gel Pens… 1 pack of Blue and 1 pack of Black ink pens for school.. I bought them because I only like using gel pens… but to my dismay the pens are nice to look at, feel good to hold, but they don’t write for nuts… they are intermittent and don’t actually let enough ink out to make writing fun… they are just a badly made pen as far as I can see.
