A big thank you to Milligram for allowing me to review these notebooks; long overdue.

Milligram is Australia’s leading online stationery shop, with hundreds of different brands on offer across the store. Being a writer and a lover of stationery, I absolutely adore Moleskine notebooks – and I’m happy to bring you a review of them today.

The Moleskine notebook is, in fact, the heir and successor to the legendary notebook used by artists and thinkers overthe past two centuries: among them Vincent van Gogh, Pablo Picasso and Ernest Hemingway. The Moleskine notebooks are a simple rectangle with rounded corners, contain an elastic page-holder, an internal expandable pocket for keeping notes safe, and also come in an array of colours, sizes, varieties and special editions. If you’d like to learn more about the notebooks, or the Moleskine brand itself, please visit their website.

The notebooks I have the pleasure of reviewing today contain two special editions: Toy Story and Game of Thrones, and a green classic hardcover. Each of these notebooks are a5 in size, which if you’ve already read some of my reviews, is my favourite size to write in. Each notebook is ruled, contains 240 pages and the paper is acid free and approximately 71gsm, thick enough that writing with a fountain pen won’t bleed through. The special editions also have cool end-papers, and come with an extra little gift: the Game of Thrones notebook came with stickers, while the Toy Story notebook came with a post card.

The first notebook I decided to use was the green classic hardcover notebook. A friend of mine decided to start up a history writing challenge, and I couldn’t help but want to join in. Each week I would sit down with my Lamy fountain pen and write in my Moleskine notebook. I took a picture below so you can see how well a fountain pen writes on the paper.

There are so many notebooks to choose from, and Milligram sells them all. So if you’d like to get your hands on one, or have a writer as a best friend and are in need of a great Christmas present, please head on over to their website.
